Responsibilities:

The Security Office at The New School is a 24 X 7 operation that seeks to ensure that the rights of every member of the campus community are respected and that there exists a safe and secure atmosphere in all campus buildings. We have an immediate opening for a Coordinator of Operations and Access Control, reporting to the university’s Director of Campus Safety. This position is responsible for maintenance of the university’s Access Control system, and for facilitation of day-to-day operations in support of the overall functioning of the Department of Campus Safety.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular office operations, and suggest improvements for the functioning of the overall administration of the office
- Manage the university’s S2 Access Control System, including:
—grant and restrict New School student, faculty and staff card access
—create and/or maintain reader groups, portal groups, and time spec groups as needed
—schedule auto-unlock time specs
—monitor and distribute activity log data reports as requested.
—maintain Access Control Spreadsheets for each location
- Manage Locksmith and Lock/Key Work Orders
—serve as sole coordinator of netfacilities for Campus Safety
—field all lock and key requests
—monitor the entire system for any “other” or “door repair” requests that have been mislabeled
—approve, assign, close-out and file Work Order requests
—distribute keys and keep files of completed work orders
- Liaise with Accounting and manage use of university systems (MyNewSource, Concur) for any purchasing, travel and other business carried out by staff across the Department of Campus Safety
- Handle business and accounts associated with external vendors
- Collect, organize, store, return donate, and maintain metrics on Lost and Found items
- Manage all new hire, union, and NY State-mandated paperwork for Security Officers
- Report all equipment failures (cameras, computers, turnstiles, card readers, etc) to the technicians
- Perform other assignments as required by the Director of Campus Safety

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree required
- Knowledge of office operations and management in a large, complex environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of software

Preferred Qualifications:

- Understanding of the basic functions of a university Campus Security office
- Prior work experience in a business office setting
