Responsibilities:

• Escort patrons to their seats as necessary.
• Monitor venue entrances during concerts to ensure patrons enter only during appropriate moments.
• Operate the lighting presets from touch panels.
• Provide patrons with programs.
• Check venues for cleanliness and handle any necessary clean-up.
• Check venues to ensure seats are configured according to plan, and make adjustments as necessary.
• Monitor venues for potential safety issues.
• Remain at assigned post throughout the event.
• Attend usher training as necessary.
• Answer questions and interact with patrons as needed.
• Communicate with performers before the concert about necessary stage set-up details.
• Monitor the performance and configure stands, chairs, piano or harpsichord, and other items as necessary.
• Other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to lift 25 lbs waist high, and able to assist with set up of chairs, music-stands and other furniture.
• Ability to move a piano on stage without assistance.
• Work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as loud music and dark/dim/absence of lighting.
• Communicate effectively in English.
• Deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring maturity, friendliness, and firmness
• Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance
• Availability to work nights and weekends
• Well-organized, dependable, and able to commit to a monthly work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

• Musicians or experienced concert-goers preferred.
• Position is not limited to students with federal work study, but students with a work study award are preferred. Please submit your work study award letter along with this application if you have one.
