Responsibilities:

Job Purpose: The Student Programming Assistant works directly with the Senior Office Assistant and Graphic Designer on the marketing and branding of Student Development and Activities and departmental events. Support functions include maintaining the look and feel of internal social media sites.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with answering telephones, running errands on and off campus, and post fliers around campus when needed.
• Assist in creating and managing social media/email marketing campaigns for the department.
• Assist with special projects and events relating to the programming philosophy of the Office of Student Development & Activities.
• Conduct proactive outreach to gain student involvement.
• Serve as a representative and liaison to students and the Office of Student Development & Activities.
• Tweet and post events, giveaways, and contests across all social media sites associated with the department, such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
• Create, proofread and edit any messages, blurbs etc.
• Work closely with Graphic Designer to edit programs to ensure the best department marketing strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Job Qualifications:

• Must be a registered New School student.
• Excellent written, verbal and editing skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Proficient in Goggle and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) applications.
• Fluent in all Social Media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
• Working knowledge of graphic design software a plus (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Able to take initiative.
• Have a positive/jovial approach and attitude.
• Be digitally and socially savvy. Your third language is #hashtags.
• Realize social media is always on and as such, are willing to extend posting and community management beyond business hours.
• Be a self-starter who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
• Be bursting with creativity and fast thinking. Copywriting experience is a plus.
